Prostate Cancer Research

Prostate cancer research is ongoing to help find a cure and it won’t stop until there is a cure for it. Researchers believe that genes are linked to the cancer and this helps find more answers about any genetic changes. Once the researcher’s link into this and find that this is the cause; medicines will be made to target the genes to see what can be done to prevent this type of cancer. While one can inherit his genes from his parents, there is a gene that he inherits from his mother that can triple his risk of getting prostate cancer.

As the prostate cancer research continues they are looking into which cancers stay in the gland and which ones grow and spread. Researcher’s know that one gene is only appearing more in the advanced stages then in the earlier stages of cancer and if this continues they are looking to see if that would mean that when that gene is present the cancer is aggressive. The result of this research would let us know which men need treatment and which men just need to be watched that the cancer does not progress. When we hear things like this we do know that the prostate cancer research team is almost there to help us perhaps one day rid us of this cancer.

When doctors want to measure the blood flow in the gland they use a Doppler ultrasound. This ultrasound will help to find the right part of the gland that should be tested so the test would be as correct as it can be. Having an exact prostate cancer diagnosis will help in curing the person faster. Something more advanced is injecting the person with a contrast and better results were found for a prostate cancer diagnosis as this was used but it’s not for the public because it’s still being tested. MRI’s might also be useful for a prostate cancer diagnosis but that is still in being studied at the moment.
